Cookies
A cookie is a small piece of data a site stores in your browser so that a choice or a short-lived technical need can be remembered. This site is a set of static pages. It does not require cookies to read briefings, rates, or journal notes, or to send an enquiry.
Types we use
Essential. We store your Accept or Reject choice so the banner does not return on every page load. That storage is a local preference (localStorage) under the name desktopPathline_cookieConsent. It is first-party and is not used to follow you onto other sites.
Analytics. We do not currently set analytics cookies. If we ever introduce a first-party count of page views, it would be issued only after Accept, listed in the table below, and would not be required to use the site. Rejecting leaves all pages, maps, and the enquiry form working.
Cookie table
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|
| desktopPathline_cookieConsent | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected optional cookies, so the banner can stay closed | Until you clear site data, or twelve months after the last choice (we treat the stored value as stale after a year and will ask again) | Desktop Pathline (first party, this domain) |
How to change your mind
Use Accept or Reject on the banner when it appears. To clear a stored choice, delete site data for desktop-pathline.click in your browser settings. You can also block cookies entirely in those settings; the only effect on this site is that the banner may appear again. Third-party blocking tools are not required here because we do not presently load third-party advertising or analytics cookies.
Third-party cookies
Pages may request typefaces from Google Fonts. That request can allow Google to see your IP address. It is not a cookie we set. Images on some pages are loaded from Unsplash’s content network; Unsplash may receive a technical request for the picture. We do not control cookies those organisations might set. Preferring Reject on our banner does not stop those image or font requests, because they are how the page is drawn, not an analytics product we run.
If you disable cookies
You can still read every page and send an enquiry. You may see the banner more often. Form validation runs in your browser and does not depend on a cookie.
How we handle other personal data is described in the privacy notice.
